Stress – An extended arm of ailments
Stress has become an integral part of our lives today. How much ever try to keep away from stress through various means like regular exercising, walking, jogging, yoga, meditation, and foods selection to making lifestyle changes, stress takes over us in a way or the other. The prudent thing to be done in such is to aim to attack the root cause namely stress that deprives one of good quality sleep instead of treating the symptoms of the outcome of stress.
Valium as a stress reliever
Valium, which is also known as Diazepam is basically a medication for treating mental ailments like Alcohol Withdrawal Symptoms and Mood Disorders. Basically, an anti-anxiety drug belonging to the benzodiazepine classes of drugs, Valium, unless taken in overdoses acts as one of the best stress relievers among other drugs. While an orally taken Valium starts working on patients within one and a half hours from the consumption time, its effect on the body stays for the long period of time. One can imagine the high levels of effectiveness of valium if it is understood that it takes more than 20 hours for the effects of Valium to be completely removed from the body. For this reason, Valium must not be taken alongside with any other antidepressant since it may strengthen the dosage in negative ways.
The way valium works on the brain and body to avoid Insomnia
Unfortunately, stress being the root cause of all ailments, mental and physical, we fall into the trap of many mental disorders and Phobias including lifestyle affecting diseases like insomnia. While the much developed medical field offers many solutions in the form of medicines to insomnia, unless the root cause is destroyed, effects caused like insomnia are going to be perpetual diseases in us. Doctors prescribe Valium as a sleeping aid in mild doses. Consuming medicine only to get rid of insomnia is not a prudent action since the long-term administration of any medication for this may develop dependency and addiction on patients.
Valium controls the levels of GABA, which is Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid, an acid that secrets in the brain. By doing this, valium assists in slowing down as well as stopping the otherwise abnormal activity that happens in the brain due to the wrong functioning of neurotransmitters. Once this abnormal activity gets ended, agitation, euphoria type of feelings and anxiety levels reduce and calming effect on the nerves is increased. The muscles feel relaxed stopping seizures and gradually tend to make the person feel sleepy.
GABA is also a set of neurotransmitters in the brain. Valiums tendency to get bound to GABA with high rapport levels tends to work on the hippocampus and amygdala present in the limbic system responsible for arousals that have a high impact on emotions. Valium does this by depressing the after discharge electrical effects on the brain by the neurotransmitters. Working in the above pattern, Valium ensures that stress, which is the cause of sleeplessness or insomnia, in medical terms, is suppressed by allowing sleep to take over the person.
